Following ESJ, anyone up for d`Arenberg this weekend (Open Mike)??

Waiting to hear about the 7 Deadly Zins from a couple of forumites, so hows about opening a d`Arenberg?? Any preference from anyone or has someone other ideas for this weekend? Another idea after some positive comments here recently is Malbec, say the Catena or the one Robin wrote up the other day?? I`m game as you might know!! Guess lots of you at the picnic however.

Bob, I think MoCool will definitely slow traffic here, but remember, Open Mike is very flexible! It doesn't have to be just the weekend, it can be any time, and we can have more than one going at once.

The big advantage of d'Arenberg is that it's very widely available around the world, and they make lots of different wines at varying price points., not all of them McLaren Vale fruit'n'oak bombs.

OK James, that sounds like a good idea as I have plenty (sort of) in the cellar.
Do you want to go with California or maybe a Prosecco. Lots to choose from there. Needless to say, France can turn out a decent bottle or two. Guess we just need to try to nail down where we want to go. Any suggestion from you is OK by me. Hello, anyone else wanna chime in!!

A bubbly sounds good to me, Bob ... one key is not to overplan these things ... remember, the whole idea behind Open Mike is to keep it very, very simple. If you're looking forward to opening an interesting wine this weekend, throw it out, and if others want to try it too, a fun thread might emerge. And if one topic doesn't catch fire, no matter, maybe the next one will.

Bob, I don't do d`Arenberg, it is a relious thing. Wasn't malbec the dominate grape two weeks ago? Doesn't matter as my liver needs a break and I can probably find something to post on but the bubbly might work as we are going ot a picnic this weekend.

Let's keep it at bubbly. Nice and simple. I think that's one of the theme's at McCool. That way all the perticipants have a place to put some of their notes quickly. Those of us to busy, poor, far away, or otherwise engaged can join some of the fun.

Yup, whilst you guys out there will be relishing foie gras, smoked salmon crepes, lobster tacos, pickled herring on rye crispies, we at home will be sampling sparklers whilst watching Monty Python reruns!! Hope you all remeber to bring some nice colourful/floral/dashing picnic tablecloths, have a nice time. There will of course be photos from you asap?

In DC it's anywhere from $12-$20 US. Don't know the exchange rate but I would guess $15-$24 CN? Anyway they are perfect fr picnic sipping. The one I have waiting was in the $15 US territorry if I recall correctly. I will get the details when I write it up.

Well, I was going to pull out a Vouvray but am now having second thoughts!!! A prosecco might well be in order but do not have a picnic to go to!! So guess a little drink around the horse paddock is in order!!! Can birdwatch the same time.
