WTN: Weekend Mixed Bag

Not the best wine weekend! :?

2003 S.P. Drummond Cabernet/Cab Franc "Blair Vineyard." Bleh. Extremely fumey nose with an unpleasant sweet walnut??? character. Hard generic red fruit, with the alcohol still sticking out. Did not really open up very much, did not become interesting, did not move beyond simple red fruit alcoholic wine juice. Disappointment.

2006 Elizabeth Spencer Russian River Valley Pinot Noir. Typical spicy RRV Pinosity. At least the alcohol was not too bad. Meh...not my favorite grape, but my sister and her dinner guests enjoyed it.

2004 Selvapianna Chianti Ruffina Riserva. A little hot in alcohol, but this wine was drank with the Petit Verdot from Hess and was definitely much much more enjoyable, with good Chianti tang, black and red fruit. Last bottle in the shop, though :(

2008 Lucien Albrecht Cuvee Romanus Pinot Gris
. Slurpably fruity...maybe simple, but I loved the ripe pear and apple notes with the minerality still present. Yum.

I feel the same wine about this wine in general. What has surprised me is that the 05 and 06 are still very yummy, nomacorc and all.
