QPR wine of the Year

by Tom Troiano » Thu Jan 07, 2010 4:57 pm

Just kidding - we're only 7 days in.

I bought a few bottles of 2007 Conti Zecca Donna Marzia Primitivo from a former WLDG member (Eden Stone) largely because I don't think I have ever tried Primitivo. Anyway, its great QPR for about $9-10 per bottle. A nice splash of berry fruit, spices and vanilla. Would be a nice wine for a large outdoor party. I'm sipping some as I type this.

Eden said:

The 2007 Conti Zecca Donna Marzia Primitivo is a fantastic mouthful of wine, with dense blackberry fruit dominating a flavor profile that also includes a touch of earth and spice. It's all very fresh-tasting, with none of dried-fruit quality that sometimes shows up in southern Italian wines. The deliciousness quotient is just off the charts.
