Russian River Valley, Sonoma
Rich cherry red in the glass.
Spicy, cherry, cinnamon, earthy and a hint of sulphur (which blew off) on the nose.
Fairly weighty and fat in the mouth, an earthy-bitter edge, cherry and raspberry fruit, good acidity, some sulphur (that disappeared in fairly short order), red licorice, charred, a sharp and peppery edge.
A mouthwatering and sharp-charred, burned-bitter finish.
An okay wine that soon developed a very distracting and annoying and displeasing sharp-bitter edge which, along with some fairly intense charred notes, made it not okay. Even before it turned south, the wine wasn't memorable and certainly not worth what I paid for it. What a disappointment.
