Needing a quick, inexpensive bottle of wine, I rushed to a nearby supermarket and picked this one up for around $6. it apparently is founded by the errazuriz family which is a biggish wine maker in chile.
For a wine this young (and this cheap) it was rather satisfying. rich on the nose with a decent finish and tannins. didn't taste this young at all. my only wonder about it is, i'll be darned, but it really tastes like a merlot. it has that cakey, creamy touch to it that i find in merlots but really surprised me in a cabernet-syrah blend. there's also quite a bit of coffee in this wine too. i didn't detect any of the pepper that is typical of syrah and very little of the boldness and masculinity of a cabernet.
but that being said, it is a decent wine at this price... just pair it like you would a merlot
