Wines for Christmas

by Bruce Hayes » Sat Jan 02, 2010 2:49 pm

As I mentioned in an earlier post, I received a few gift certificates and some money for Christmas and I just finished blowing it all (I mean wisely investing it) in wine.

This year I decided to try to bump up my "big reds," so I got one bottle each of:

Sterling Cabernet Sauvignon 2006
Cathedral Cellar Cabernet Sauvignon 2007
Mission Hill Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon 2007
Penfolds Thomas Hyland Shiraz 2006
Montes Alpha Syrah 2007
Altair Sideral 2004 (A joint venture between Bordeaux's Laurent Dassault and Chile's Viña San Pedro. A blend of Cabernet and Merlot, with small additions of Carmenère, Sangiovese, Cabernet Franc and Syrah).
Rodney Strong Russian River Valley Pinot Noir 2007
Herencia Remondo La Montesa 2006
La Serre Nouove dell Ornellaia (The second label of Ornellaia, made from grapes from younger vines).

As I said at the start, my focus was to increase my big reds. Still lots of whites in the cellar.
