1990 Bollinger Champagne La Grande Année
Laura and I are ringing out 2009 and welcoming 2010 a little early in the evening. The '90 Bolly Grande Annee is a delicious wine, still displaying youthful fruit, but accompanied by a biscuity/toasty element as well. Rich, fine depth & a very long, complex finish. Acid balance is very fine & the mousse is subtle but adequate. Overall flavor impression is of a wine with time in hand, but it's very hard to resist right now.

I guess it makes up for the missed 1996!

My wife and I rang in the 2009 New Year with this wine and found it, as you did, very delicious. Happy New Year.

Hi David,

We had the 85 Bollinger RD last week. My wife actually preferred the Veuve Clicquot NV that preceded it.

I was more in favor of the Bollinger, which was at its peak IMHO.

Best regards,
Alex R.

Hi Alex! Happy new year.

We're still holding on to the '90 Bollinger RD. We thought about opening it to compare with the regular GA, but figured two bottles for two people might be a bit much.
