So just Betsy, David and I for Boxing Day dinner. Betsy made a small rib roast and Yorkshire pudding, along with broccoli and some leftover kale/polenta cake. Wine was the 1989 La Lagune (Haut Medoc). Cork was a sawdusty disaster, neither pulltap nor Ah-so could do much, I punched a hole with the AhSo and used a decanting screen. But color was excellent, so no apparent oxygen ingress. Dark fruits, cedar, cured tobacco. Medium length, mostly resolved tannins, fully mature and drinking well. Nice showing. B+
Grade disclaimer: I'm a very easy grader, basically A is an excellent wine, B a good wine, C mediocre. Anything below C means I wouldn't
drink at a party where it was only choice. Furthermore, I offer no promises of objectivity, accuracy, and certainly not of consistency.
