WTN: Zolo Reserve Malbec 2006

by Bruce Hayes » Wed Dec 23, 2009 11:42 am

Fincas Patagonica
Mendoza

Decanted for about 40 minutes before dinner.

Very dark purple in the glass.

Soft, chocolate, spicy, roasted notes on the nose.

Big in the mouth, tangy acidity, smoky, fleshy black cherry, blueberries, red currants, roasted-charred notes, spicy, very rich, with a mildly firm backbone.

With time, the wine became a bit firmer, tangier and drying but was still quite tasty.

A very long finish.

Delicous and very impressive. I think some short-term cellaring would greatly benefit the wine.

Purchased at $16.95 (Canadian).
