Aldo Biale

Aldo Biale, longtime Napa winegrower, partner in Robert Biale Vineyards and patriarch of the family, passed away in his sleep Saturday morning.

I think the family would appreciate your words of sympathy and respect.

He will, to say the least, be missed.

I first met Aldo way back when Bob had first released the Biale's. We met on the back deck of their home above Aldo's vnyd. Cold & damp & foggy. Aldo's
wife insisted on making us up a big fritatta to warm the cockles of our heart. It did, indeed, do that. We had a lovely (shivering) visit and Aldo was
one of those no-nonsense/tell it like it is/no bullshit/salt of the earth type of guys.
Thanks for the head's up, Bree.

I was introduced to Biale Black Chicken Zinfandel at a wine tasting in the DC area and I'm now on the mailing list. I'm glad Aldo was able to slip away while at home and not in a hospital (or was it in a hospital?--I'm not sure.)

JC, as I understand it, Aldo had been in the hospital for the last three weeks, but was discharged home on the day he passed away. He went to bed that night feeling pretty good and simply never woke up.

Sad, but a dignified ending.
My wine shopping and I have never had a problem. Just a perpetual race between the bankruptcy court and Hell.--Rogov
