WTN: Hugo Gruner Veltliner 2008

by Bruce Hayes » Thu Dec 10, 2009 8:34 pm

Niederosterreich
Markus Huber

Bright yellow, with green tints, in the glass.

Lemony, peppery, clean on the nose.

Medium weight, peppery, lemon, a hint of pear, green apple, orange and grapefruit, quite rich, good tangy acidity, juicy, refreshing and delicious.

Lemon, peppery on the mouthwatering finish.

I am turning into a big Gruner fan. Thank goodness it has such a "scary" and difficult to pronounce name or everyone would be drinking it and it would become more popular and the price would go up. :)

Screwcap closure.

Purchased at $13.95 (Canadian) and a steal at that price.

I've even had this wine (though not the '08). It is generally good stuff and good QPR. Same goes for Huber.
