2001 Dehlinger Estate Pinot Noir

Darker crimson in the glass with fairly long legs. The nose took a bit to open up but revealed some blackberry, dried leaves, ripe black cherries, plums and faint spice cake notes. Rather plush on the palate with no noticeable oak or alcohol. The fruit is still lively, but it seems to lack the acidity to make this as friendly with food that some Pinot Noirs can be at times.

All things considered, this is a very nice fuller-bodied Pinot Noir that is probably not going to benefit from additional aging so drink up if you have them.

I have this wine and it sounds like it needs to be drank. I just got off the Dehliner mailing list mostly for the reason's you mention. They are not great agers and lack the acidity to be great food wines like many Oregon PNs and Burgs. Seem to be more for the BBQ tour.

We popped their 1997 RRV Cabernet Sauvignon earlier this year and it was at the top of its game. One of best of the year for us.
