Price for 2007 Beaucastel?

by Tom Troiano » Wed Dec 09, 2009 11:44 am

What's the going rate for 2007 Beaucastel in the USA? Is $89 a fair price?

I'm never quite sure if the prices on wine seacher dot come are real. To me they are like the cartoon of lobster on sale for $1.99 a lb. but the store doesn't have any lobster.

Tom,
IMO, any price under $100/btl these days is a reasonable price for Beaucastel. If you distrust wine-searcher, you can always try other search engines:

Mark,

Thanks.

"Distrust" is probably not the correct word I just find that its out of date. I've contacted retailers probaby 10-15 times using wine searcher and the wine is either sold out or the price is old.

$89 : Price for 2007 Beaucastel?

by Tom N. » Wed Dec 09, 2009 11:50 pm

Hi Tom,

In Ontario Beaucastel CdP goes for $90 CAN. So, $89 US sound reasonable given that exchange rate now is close to even. I don't think it is a great deal however.

Premier Cru is $75 if you don't mind the usual wait.

Here in London, at least at Majestic, it is £50 or about $80.

Tom
My understanding is that wine-searcher take it very seriously if a store consistently doesn't have the stock it advertises - with a number of merchants having been removed for this reason.

Tom, the wholesale at this time on the West coast is approx. $75 per. That equates into about $110 retail. Usually French wines are a little bit cheaper on the East coast. I would imagine with the economy the way it is most retailers would stay below a $100. I know we will.

Tom,

If this is based on the emails from Marty's then this is a fair price. Give Peter a call and he can hook you up still. I picked up a few from them.
