WTN: X & Y Shiraz 2004

by Bruce Hayes » Sun Dec 06, 2009 11:12 am

Margaret River
Evans & Tate

Dark red in the glass.

Tangy, spicy, berry fruit on the nose.

Thick in the mouth, red licorice, currants, cherry, spicy, quite tangy, leafy, intense, mouth-coating, tobacco, cinnamon, with persistent alcohol heat. The wine weighed in at 15 per cent which, IMHO, is far too high.

Alcohol burn and mouthwatering on the finish.

An enjoyable wine, but the alcohol heat proved quite distracting.

Screwcap closure.

Purchased at $15.95 (Canadian).

Think E and T is now history.
Goodness knows how anyone can make a wine like that from the Margaret River.

Going to the curling a few nights this week here Bruce.
