WTN: Rosso di Montalcino (a bit atypical)

With roast chicken, rice, and asparagus, the 2007 Casisano Colombaio Rosso di Montalcino. I don't think I'd have picked this as RdM in 2 dozen guesses. Tangy cherries, high acids, with a slightly prickly mouthfeel. A definite peppery note. I think blind I would have been guessing lighter styled Loire red. Light bodied. With time the prickliness (CO2?) subsides, there's a little lifted edge on nose, seems to get a bit fuller. Betsy says strange, I say interesting. B-?

Grade disclaimer: I'm a very easy grader, basically A is an excellent wine, B a good wine, C mediocre. Anything below C means I wouldn't drink at a party where it was only choice. Furthermore, I offer no promises of objectivity, accuracy, and certainly not of consistency.
