Attention all Loire-heads....a white Saumur!!

WTN: `02 Saumur Domaine Langlois-Chateau VV.

Cellared for 3 yrs, 100% Chenin Blanc, good natural cork, 14% alc, $25 Cdn.

The nose is racy, has some mineral tones, citrus. No sheeps wool! Color is a beautiful pale gold, just glistens.
Apple, spice on the entry, great acidity, unripe white store-fruit. "Hint of that Weston family marmalade on the finish" from across the table. Tremendous structure here and a very good wine!
The staff at DeVines finished off the bottle next day and were equally impressed.

hi bob - i like these wines too. there is a coop for suamur that makes several cuvees of white. the one i bought in chicago for $9 US is really, really tasty. if it were $25, i'd still like it; but.......

Yum. I have yet to try the VV. I found their basic Saumur cuvée rather boring. Next time I'm close to the shop that sells L-C (it's next to a super poultry and game specialist), I'll pop in and get a VV but it won't be 2002.

Should have no problem tracking down the agent here! I am looking for a more current vintage, that is for sure.

Thanks Bob. I have to confess I think it is sparkling wines when Langlois Chateau are at their best, but of the dry wines the vieilles vignes is certainly the one to go for. And 2002 is a good vintage, too.

New producer to me, but sounds like a great wine Bob.
