2002 Lindsay Pinot Noir (Angus)Willamette Valley

Linda Lindsay, known as Linda L. (Stone Wolf) hereabouts, is the winemaker on this. I consider Linda a friend, but would like to think this hasn't overly influenced my opinion of this wine.

This wine is all about balance and is not for those seeking gobs of anything in their wine.
Light to medium bodied with a decidedly elegant profile. Initially, the tart cherry and the looooog pepper spicy finish are the distinguishing notes, but after an hour or so the wine opens to gain complexity with clove, cranberry and cola added to the mix. It was fun to sip during final meal preparations were under way, but was absolutely stunning with the traditional Thanksgiving turkey and sides. I had my last sip over 30 minutes ago and the flavors still linger on the palate. Not the slightest hint of oak or alcohol.

Dang it Bill! I don't happen to have any of the 2002 Angus, or I don't think I do. Now I will have to go down and check through the boxes. Such a chore!

I had tasted this a few months ago when the price came down so I can now retail it for $25. I would agree with your assessment. It is nice to have Oregon Pinots with a little age on them to sell.

Definitely a great price. Plus, I don't see any downside to holding this wine 3+ years, though I'm not some sort of internet authority on aging Oregon Pinot Noir to know if it will improve or not.

I can't find Linda's wines in Maryland or DC. Does anyone know if she distributes them this far east? Linda?

I've had several of the Lindsays and they've all been winners.

James, I think her eastern most distributor is located in Cleveland, but I can't recall the name. Either JB or myself could probably get some for you if you wish. Is it possible for an individual not involved in wine to ship to you? I ask because that is the case with Kentucky. Our law has changed to where a wineries making not more than 50,000 gallons can ship to us in Kentucky, and that is a nice provision since some of my favorite west coast wines are from small wineries.

Isn't shipping pretty wide open to DC? Why not just order a few bottles from Linda direct and have it shipped to DC? Just wondering.

I don't live in DC, nor do I have any close friends that reside in the District. Also, shipping costs make most wines prohibitive. I do have a friend in the business. I need to get him to look this up.

You're just gonna have to come out here, I guess.

Thanks for the kind words about the "Angus" Pinot Noir - I think its in a very pretty place right now and would hope it will continue to evolve over the next few years, but it's so hard to predict. This is actually my Go-To wine along with the Lindsay Cabernet, maybe I just like wine with a bit more age on it, who knows.
Sorry but this wine hasn't made it out of Oregon for our Distributors, didnt make enough to send out on a multi-state level.
