WTN: Jaffurs Roussanne '99...(short/boring)

by TomHill » Mon Nov 23, 2009 11:14 am

Had this last night w/ my tofu pizza:
1. Jaffurs Roussanne StolpmanFamilyVnyd/SBC (13.6%) 1999: Med.gold color; lovely perfumed figgy/waxy slight petrol/R-like strong floral/honeysuckle/Rousanne slight nutty/toasted hazelnuts slight honeyed complex nose; tart fairly rich/lush honeyed/figgy/waxy bit pineapply lovely high-toned/floral/honeysuckle/Rouss slight toasted hazelnuts/nutty/honeyed bit aged/complex flavor; very long tart/rich/lush light honeyed/pineapply strong floral/honeysuckle/Rouss slight nutty/aged complex finish; beautiful/complex Calif Rouss that will probably go out another 5-10 yrs. $24.00

And a wee BloodyPulpit:
1. This Roussanne iis in a really wonderful place right now. It has plenty of young floral/Roussanne character and just starting to develop the complexities you get in an aged Roussanne.
To my judgement, Jaffurs Roussanne and the Qupe HillsideEstate Roussannes are some of the greatest Roussannes made in Calif. The French could take a lesson. The Jaffurs GrenacheBlanc is also pretty terrific.
