Tried this the other night for dinner:
1. Kenneth-Crawford Syrah EvansRanch/StaRitaHills (15.3%; www.KennethCrawford.com) 2004: Very dark/near black color; strong plummy/blueberry/blackberry/Syrah quite spicy slight pungent/peppery very light toasty/oak lovely nose; soft/smooth very blueberry/plummy/Syrah/blackberry light pungent/licorice/pepper rather spicy light toasty/oak flavor; long smooth/polished/silky strong blueberry/spicy/Syrah/blackberry light pungent/licorice/peppery finish w/ smooth tannins; not that much SRH/black pepper character, quite spicy, and lots of plummy/almost Mourvedre-like character; probably near its peak; lovely Calif Syrah.

1. I've followed the Kenneth-Crawford wines from the very start and have always liked them. They make really solid wines at fair prices but don't seem to get a whole lot of recognition.
