WTN: 2006 Errazuriz Wild Ferment Pinot Noir

2006 Errazuriz Wild Ferment Pinot Noir 14.5%
As I was opening this, I was thinking "whatever possessed me to buy a pinot with 14.5% alcohol?" Of course, it was the wild ferment. Wild thing, you make my heart sing! Well, not always. Cherry jam and lots of tar charge up my nostrils, like anti-matter plasma up the port and starboard nacelles of the Enterprise. Acidity is there, but seems a bit unnatural, like it's in a separate room. Fruit is serious, body is chunky, finish is on the short and bitter side. Lesson of the evening: no use being virtuous about your yeasts if you sin all the way to the confessional.
"I went on a rigorous diet that eliminated alcohol, fat and sugar. In two weeks, I lost 14 days." Tim Maia, Brazilian singer-songwriter.

Reading your post was exactly like remember of Errazuriz Cabernet 2007 that i try recently... You just need to put some guava and wood...
I think that your metaphors way to post this king of notes, is the best to talk about Chilean and Argentina wines! makes the predictable more instigate!!!! :twisted :

Oswaldo,

I posted a tasting note on the 2007 version of this wine. I think I liked it better than you did the 2006 vintage. But I must admit the finish had bitter tinge to it, like cherry pits. Not bad enough to really turn me off, but like you say, not the best finish.
