2007 Dão Alvaro Castro DOC 13.0%
Made by Quinta da Pellada but that name doesn't appear on the label, perhaps because this is more modern than the house style. A blend of Touriga Nacional and Alfrocheiro from 60+ year old vines from Quinta da Pellada and Quinta de Nápoles. Vinified in stainless steel, malolactic in barrels and aged 18 months in French oak. Attractive aromas of red fruit, tar and rosemary. Marcia things it's a bit reductive, but I don't see that. No perceptible oak, so maybe used for oxigenation only. Good acidity and freshness, pleasant body, good fruit. A nice wine, though the nose promises more than it delivers, at this point.
"I went on a rigorous diet that eliminated alcohol, fat and sugar. In two weeks, I lost 14 days." Tim Maia, Brazilian singer-songwriter.
