2002 Cedarville Estate El Dorado Syrah

Purchased at the winery for $27 USD in December of 2004. Surprisingly dark in the glass considering the age. Nice long legs. Rich yet graceful with a very even balance of black cherries, currants, spice, brush, and blackberry. This was a winner and went very well with hickory grilled pork porterhouses.

I have mentioned this before, but if you are ever in the Sierra Foothills I would enthusiastically recommend visiting Cedarville. Jonathan Lachs is a wonderful host and produces some very affordable yet excellent wines on his scenic property. And all the better if you can talk Mr. Filigenzi into doing the driving.

Like you and Mike, I'm a big fan of Cedarville.

I've had a very consistent line up of wines from there. Well made, top quality, and intrinsically pleasing stuff.

I am always impressed with the style and quality of the Zins this place puts out!

Glad that showed well, Dave!

Was the syrah and porterhouse used to take a little of the sting out of Sunday's disaster?

HA! No, the Syrah and porterhouses were for dinner on Friday. Dinner on Sunday was a very simple Florida-inspired stir fry of crow because one of my best friends is a huge TB fan.
