My last visit was in late 2007 - and I did a complete write-up on another Board. Quick summary: Best (easily) was Sunset Grill - at the time they had a promotion where EVERY wine was half-price on a Sunday - and they had a great list. We ordered the Ridge Santa Cruz Chardonnay (for around $40). Great wine. Regular menu was standard fare, but the daily specials were much more exciting (e.g. honey glazed lavender scented duck breast with maple orange duck leg confit). They also had a spectacular Butterscotch Habanero Bread Pudding for dessert.
Tayst was 'good but'. The 'but' was an obsequious server that knew 'everything' but was most annoying. Some dishes superb - some we sent back (appetizers were the best part)! Incidentally the returned items were properly prepared next time around.
We also visited F Scott's - we weren't overly impressed. A place to be seen, rather than food to be tasted - most dishes were cluttered with too many components. Expensive for what was on the plate. But we may have suffered 'cultural differences' which affected our review. E.g. sorghum glazed chicken livers were compared by the server to 'maple syrup' - NOT! - more like corn syrup! 'Field Peas' turned out to be what in Canada we call 'split peas'.
I second what Allen said about Sunset Grill. We had a fabulous meal there, a few years ago. At that time, they offered free shuttle service to and from any hotel in the city, which was a nice perk. Also had some tasty Tennessee style ribs at a place down in music row...directly across from the Elvis statue, but I can't recall the name. We had a great time in Nashville; hope you do, too!
