Fontanafredda

Dark red in the glass.

Nothing on the nose.

Lip smackin', medium weight, juicy cherry and raspbery, currants, lots of tangy acidity, rich and refreshing, red licorice, drying. Delicious.

Cherry fruit on the mouthwaterng finish.

Purchased at $15.95 (Canadian).

Interesting note. I had this about a year ago with a different impression, but hey, that's the beauty of wine! :D

2007 Fontanafredda Barbera Briccotondo (Piedmont) I love to find truffle notes in Piedmont wines but I’m thinking tuber not confection. This was like letting a cinnamon dusted milk chocolate truffle melt in your mouth. The cherry fruit pushed forward over time and there was enough acidity to give it enough lift for red sauce but that chocolate core is far too distracting to make it something I’d want again.
