2008 Selbach-Oster Zeltinger Himmelreich Riesling Spatlese 'Anrecht'
The latest in the series of of parcel designated Rieslings from Johannes Selbach once again hits the spot. While this is certainly not a dry wine, the more traditional 2008 acids provide a lovely counterpoint to the measured sweetness of the wine, creating a more vibrant package than has been the norm for recent vintages. Tart, and almost minty fruit is supported by minerality that is anything but subtle. The one caution I would give is to either open the wine well in advance or give it a splash decant, as it does have a good bit of trapped CO2.

That is my favourite 08 German from what I've tried so far in this vintage (granted, it's not a huge number but it's still an awesome and incredibly fun wine with so much brightness and energy). Glad you were able to source more of it.

Had this over 2 nights. A teeny bit of spritz at first. Peaches and yellow plums, a bit of citrus. Good acids, plenty of minerality. No complaints here!
