I need some help with Muscat...

by Richard Fadeley OLD » Sat Oct 31, 2009 11:13 am

I am giving a class in Champagne and dessert wines and have a great lineup of wines and food for everything but the Muscat de Beaumes de Venise. Can someone suggest what I might serve with this dessert wine. It does not have to be a dessert, could be cheese for salad, or food. Any ideas?
Thanks in advance.

I like custard/crume brulee/pudding with these kinds of wines.

Powerful blue cheese (Stilton, Roquefort) would probably work quite well.

If a blue cheese I think I'd go for Roquefort rather than Stilton. I would also consider many fruit-based desserts - not apple pie, but summer pudding or fruit salad for example. I've never tried it in this way, but I can imagine it would work with chocolate flavours too - in a similar way to the how orange works.
