WTN: La Griffe Bernard Chereau Muscadet Sevre Et Maine 2008

Sur Lie
Chereau-Carre

Light yellow in the glass.

Apple, spicy and clean on the nose.

Spicy, pear, green apples, lemon, tangy, shiver-inducing acidity (but in a good way), peppery, light to medium bodied, a light bitter citrus rind bite, honeyed, refreshing, very summery.

Within a few glasses, the wine became very lemony and the lemon fruit pretty much dominated.

Gentle grapefruit rind and lightly peppery on the long, mouthwatering finish.

Not the best Muscadet I have ever had - it quickly became pretty much one-dimensional lemon - but not bad.

Purchased at $14.95 (Canadian).

Very well-known family with numerous estates divided amongst the family. I would like to think a year in the cellar might be of value? I am still drinking the `05s here plus a couple of `02s.
