2007 Domaine de Bachellery Pinot Noir, VdP d'Oc
Picked this wine up on whim for $14 from the local wine shop. Purchased mainly to spite the over priced Oregon Pinot that I intended to purchase.
This turned out to be a very decent Pinot for the price. Rich aromatic nose of cherry and forest. Cherry and raspberry on the palate with a nice extended finish. Worked reasonably well with the baked rosemary chicken. The wine even brightened up considerably during the course of dinner. Would definitely buy again at that price point.
The owner of the wine shop is offering lots of "odd ball" Pinots, from a little bit of everywhere, to combat the high Pinot prices out of California and Burgundy. He is offering Pinots from Canada, New Zealand, Spain, Austria, Chile, as well as low cost Pinots from France and California. There is definitely some good QPR alternative product out there.
