WTN: Terre Di Vulcano Aglianico Del Vulture 2006

by Bruce Hayes » Tue Oct 27, 2009 7:29 pm

Bisceglia
DOC Basilicata

Decanted about 20 minutes before supper.

Good healthy cherry red in the glass.

Dried flowers and herbs on the nose.

Dried cherry fruit, earthy, leather, bitter dark chocolate, good tangy acidity, medium weight, drying, floral, spicy, round, smooth and full in the mouth. This wine tastes much older than its three years.

Bitter dark chocolate, earthy, mouthwatering on the long finish.

Purchased at $14.95 (Canadian) and very good value.

I have drunk a few Aglianicos over the years and never tasted one that didn't seem like it needed more aging. :?:
