Tried these last week after our Qupes:
1. Clos Jean AC: Lopiac (MeBaC; 14%; GrandVin de Bordeaux) SCEA Vignobles Bord/Loupiac 2005: Med.gold color; beautiful botrytis/peachy/apricotty/figgy slight volatile light butterscotchy/oak intense beautiful/classic young Sauternes nose; soft bit alcoholic very intense botrytis/peachy/apricotty/figgy rather sweet some butterscotchy/caramel/oak slightly bitter rather unctuous flavor; very long intense peachy/apricotty/botrytis light butterscotchy/oak finish; a beautiful example of a young Sauternes and one that should age well; a screamin' deal at $14.00/hlf
2. AndreBourguet Cartagene Vin de Liquer DessertWine of Languedoc (16%; MeBeDomaineBourguet/
Beziers/Montimas) Imported by TheOrganicWineCompany/SanFrancisco NV: Light red, slightly murky/browning color w/ fair amount of sediment; quite dusty/earthy some ash tray/tobaccoy rather alcoholic bit strawberry/old Grenache old Porto nose; slightly sweet some grapey/alcoholic rather aged Porto bit strawberry fairly hot/alcoholic flavor; very long rather hot/alcoholic/grapey slight strawberry bit tobaccoy finish; much like a very old Port; not much fruit therin, but a rather interesting/complex Port-style of apertif/dessert wine; good price at $17.00/500ml

1. Bourguet: The OrganicWineCompany has nothing on their WebSite about this wine; so I haven't a clue what the heck it is. My sense is that it's made like a Ratafia or Calif Angelica or a Pineau des Charentes by adding grape spirits to fresh grape juice. The brown color and loads of sediment would suggest that it has a fair amount of age on it, or is made by blending in a solera system. Whatever it is, it's quite a delicious and interesting apertif wine.
