WTN: 2007 Licia Albarino

With lunch at M5 (gorgeous new restaurant in Charlotte in the South Park area.) Part of Harpers Restaurant operation with emphasis on Mediterranean cuisine. With Greek bread with three dips (hummus, tzatziki, and spicy feta) and chicken paillard with olives, roasted tomatoes, cucumbers and feta cheese crumbles.
Apple on the nose; apple and lemon on the palate. Nice acid balance. Crisp and food-friendly; versatile. One of the nicer Albarinos of five or six I have tried. A single-tank cuvee recommended by one wine shop as a delicious Albarino for quaffing. Also a favorite with my knowledgeable server at M5 (Kristopher.) The 2006 vintage has 12.8% alcohol and an 89 rating from Wine Advocate with a description that sounds like the same flavor profile as the 2007. Sells for $14-$17 range and is worth that price I feel.

Great pity we cannot feature Albarino on Wine Focus. Believe me I have suggested!
