Mastroberardino Greco di Tufo 2005 - Lemony, prickly, savory. Medium length. Medium-full weight. Good wine but nothing special.
Carlo Massimiliano Gritti "Muda" Umbria IGT 2004 - Sangiovese, Montepulciano and Merlot. Very young, dense, violet color. Very dry with dried fruits. Medium body. Good length. Despite the Merlot, very Italian in character. Good balance. Very nice.
Clos du Bois Cabernet Sauvignon 2001 - Spicy nose. Very fruity. Slightly sweet and fat. Could use a bit more acid to balance it. Rather full-bodied. Nice with a grilled steak.
Ernest Loosen Erdener Treppchen Kabinett Mosel-Saar-Ruwer 2005 - Very light color. Slightly spritzy. Sweetness that seems just short of Spatlese level. Lots of acid to balance the sweetness. Grapey. Apples as well. Lemon rind in the finish. So easy to drink. Yummy!
Montgras Ninquen Chile 2003 - 98% Cabernet Sauvignon 2% Malbec. Very dry. At first really smooth on the attack with a tannic finish. After some airing, it gains strength making it full. Closed but with a great deal of potential. Come back to this is 5 years.
Montgras Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve Chile 2005 - Rahter light color. Oaky nose. Strawberry. Medium bodied with a hint of berry sweetness. Hollow mid-palate. A little cough syrup. Good wine.
Montgras Carmenere Reserve Chile 2005 - Tobacco, soft, sweet, spicy. A little hot but otherwise nicely balanced. A good drink now and bette than the Cabernet Sauvignon.
Opus One 1996 - New Worldy nose. Smooth entry but tannic on the finish. Will definitely still age a bit. Sweet attack but dry, tobaccoey finish. Licorice after 30 minutes of airing. Seems to be slightly bretty. Nicely put together. Very good.
St. Stephen's Crown Tokaji Aszu Esszencia 1988 - Orange marmalade nose. Caramel, burnt sugar. Bitter orange marmalade on the palate. Thick and sweet but with good acid balance. A finish that just goes on and on. Much better than I expected, being from an unknown producer.
