WTN: 2005 Claude Courtois Racines

by Oswaldo Costa » Fri Oct 02, 2009 5:36 am

2005 Claude Courtois Les Cailloux du Paradis Racines VdT 12.5%
A blend of Cabernet Franc, Côt and Cabernet Sauvignon. More restrained than the last sighting two months ago. Dark cherry, chalk, iodine and dishrag aromas followed by bracing acidity, dense mouthfeel, almost beefy. Quite burly, despite the modest alcohol. Very satisfying and vanished all too quickly. Speaking of sighting, we may not go out into the wilderness to drink, but we have something in common with bird watchers: we repeatedly put ourselves in situations where we hope to have a thrilling experience, but in which part of the fun/pain is never quite knowing what, if any, gratification we're going to get. And then we report back.
"I went on a rigorous diet that eliminated alcohol, fat and sugar. In two weeks, I lost 14 days." Tim Maia, Brazilian singer-songwriter.

I have a bottle here of Racines 2005, and i`m vary anxious to see how is that, because my first Racines was with a strong not of barnyard, and with fruit more slow down, remember? Almost a catholic mass of spices... i don`t now the exactly words... but i`ve been noting that organic wines change a lot from bottle to bottle, and my waldorf education want to prove that again! Thanks for the note!

I don't know if it's just 'organic' wines that change from bottle to bottle but rather low/no SO2 wines that are particularly vulnerable.

There it is, the next will be in Paris... I Hope!!!

Racines 2005
A lot of yeast "my classic epoxy aroma" black rubber, dry leaves and black fresh fruits. Amazing balance in the mouth, vary tasty, delicate tannins and high acidity, top gastronomic!
if this was an accessible wine here, for sure that would be my every day red! I like the complexity of aromas and his vary balance and easy mouth, and the natural aspect that shows a completely different wine every time!!!
