It's still a 2003 - surprisingly grapey for the genre - but a little time in the bottle does seem to be moving it in the direction of more typical Loire-red minerality. I think we've got one more left and will likely hang onto it for another year or so before opening.
Thierry Puzelat 2003 Touraine Pineau d'Aunis ($16.19)
Very dark garnet, black at the center. Blackcurrants and white pepper. Lean, clean currants and fragrant pepper, mouth-watering acidity and lovely Loire "rainwater over rocks." Rocks rock! U.S. importer: LDM Wines, NYC; Louis/Dressner Selections. (July 26, 2006)
FOOD MATCH: A stunning match with veal polpette served as burgers topped with Gorgonzola.
