Thanks for the link, Kyrstyn. Intersesting wines. Are any of these from Crete or they all from mainland Greece?? The Syrah looks particularly
interesting...I was aware they had a little Syrah in Greece, but have never seen any here in the US to try. And not aware they had any Roussanne
there.
Only Crete wine I've had iis the Comandaria...a fortified wine that's actually quite good...and reasonably priced.

Tom, Not sure who the US distributor is but hunt down the Gerovassiliou. The best greek wines I have had. Must note that I found many of their other wines more interesting/appealing than their syrah but that does not mean the Syrah is not good. Just that I think they have other wines that are better.

Tom, actually...the Syrah and the Roussanne are from Crete...all the others are mainland, I'm pretty sure. Nostos wines actually started their vineyard with native Rhone varietals, and although they've branched out to try some Chardonnay and local varieties, Rhone grapes make up the bulk of their production. The owner of the vineyard, Ted Manousakis, is actually from the States, and moved back to his childhood home of Crete several years ago to begin this vineyard (I believe he's got some other ventures here, too, but not wine). Anyway, I think they do a great job with it...here's the link to their website, if you look at their team you can see they've got some decent consultants working with them.
