2001 Maximin Grünhäuser Riesling Herrenberg Spätlese
Much more approachable than I expected. A nice juicy layer of sweet fruit undercut by a crisp verdant and mineral girding. Starting to mature in the texture and the flavors and there are probably only good things ahead, but this was very well-received at the dinner table tonight and was easy to enjoy. No complaints at all.

Surprisingly enough I opened a 2001 Grunhaus Auselse not long ago that was also rather open and delicious. Who would have thought it.

Nice. I've been afraid of those.
