:-) Don't you just love our monopoly...?

by Saina » Mon Jul 31, 2006 6:56 am

There have been many complaints that American wines are terribly badly represented (as are, in fact, all other regions) in our monopoly, Alko. Well, I guess Alko for once listened to the complaints and got a new American wine for us! Guess what it is? .... Yup .... Beringer Sparkling Zinfandel Blush which sells for a whopping 11,30€. I've always wanted to try this pinnacle of American winemaking.
I don't drink wine because of religious reasons ... only for other reasons.

I actually thought I'd pass this one completely - I guess I'm a grumpy old man.

Otto,
This just does not make sense. Forget they brought in one of the worst wine in the US. Forget about any prices for wines. What is the logic to a poor wine offering? They certainly are not trying to protect a local wine industry. What country is best represented.

There is no logic in what Alko offers for sale. Except that the person who decides what wines go on sale happens to have financial ties to a certain Italian producers whose whole portfolio is on sale, but other than that there is no logic to what comes on sale.

Italy (for a certain reason), Spain and Chile have some slight shelf space, but even here the selection is very, very limited. Elsewhere, the selection is even worse.

:) She was here today briefly. Now gone again for a long, long time. :(

Sometimes one has to step up to the plate in order to criticize fairly. You're a good man, Otto.

What? You don't like fermented strawberry soda? That may be a little generous of course. I will admit that Mountain Dew is a guilty pleasure, but I'm not mixing it with alcohol.
Yes, and how many deaths will it take 'til he knows
That too many people have died?
