2000 Beckmen Grenche, Purisima Mountain Vineyard, Santa Ynez Valley
We needed something to accompany our simple dinner of grilled chicken and despite the balmy temperatures neither of us were in the mood for anything white. So I popped the cork on this.
Opened, not decanted, and the wine needed about 30 minutes to get its' act together. A lighter style of Grenache with nice bright strawberry flavors, a touch of earth, smoke, some herbs and a lingering peppered finish. Deeelightful, and I'm glad I still have a bottle or two left to enjoy over the next year or so.
