I havent had the 81 Monte Real GR but have had the CVNE Viña Real GR 81 a couple of times (thanks, Joe!). It is showing much more youth than the Prado Enea. The PE is $80 (current price) but the '95 goes for around $30. I'll just have to be very patient with those! And best of all, relatively cheap - Monte Real GR 81 was even available here for about 30€ / bottle and was a sheer delight. How much was the Muga?
You should, Otto. The oak is "good oak", nice old stuff. It's a very good wine but not in the class of say the Vina Tondonia Reserva blanco. If you're going to hunt down LdH, try to find the Tondonia Reserva. Major yum.I really need to taste Lopez de Heredia! It sounds really interesting despite the oak.
Did you go? We went to see Superman instead of wine hunting. I may head down there on Sunday afternoon though.maybe tonight?!?
