Fabulous wine. Reminds me of why I love Bordeaux. Great nose of leather and a whiff of flowers. Palate shows red and Black fruits, violets, leather, toacco, tannins that are sweet, with a generous finish. There's plenty of structure here. Wish I had more than one more.

Sounds like the 2000s are no way closing up, Howard. Tempts me to pull something! :)

I have a soft spot for Pontet-Canet, one of the first "serious" Bordeaux I tried. Might have been the '78 or something in that range, tasted around the time of its release. I loved it ...

Definitely not closed . And it got better and better in the glass. Pontet Canet was one of the first "real" wines I ever had as well. At the time it was pretty affordable, as were a lot of wines then, I guess. Not too long ago either.
