- 2002 Pierre Bouree Fils Santenay Les Gravières 1er Cru - France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Santenay (6/29/2006)
Farily dark for a Burg. At first the nose is quite nice: strawberry, ripe fruit, a touch of vegetation, pleasantly plentiful earth. But then the oak (though only 10% new oak used) kicks in and it starts smelling like a young St. Julien!! The palate also has fine fruit, pleasantly high acidity, but the oakiness becomes a bit too prominent with air. Not really my cup of tea despite some delightful elements.
