WTN: Chateau Pesquie Les Terrasses 2005

by Bruce Hayes » Sun Apr 27, 2008 7:48 pm

AC Cotes Du Ventoux.
A Grenache-Syrah blend.

Deep cherry red colour in the glass.

Leather, earth and berries on the nose.

Raspberry and strawberry, quite tart and tangy, medium bodied, somewhat baked flavours, peppery, viscous, with the tartness and dryness increasing toward the end.

Tangy finish.

Purchased at $14.95 (Canadian).

If you can, track down a Fondreche - Persia. The best Ventoux I"ve ever had. It is imported in to Quebec and BC.

Bruce, how does the Pesquie Terrasses '05 compare to the '04, if you know??? The '04 had a healthy dose of horse barn - too much for my daughter, but absolutely fine with me. This is one of the few wines on the shelves last year where I went back for a case. I think it was a touch over $9 here in Michigan.

Sorry, can't help you there OW. This winery is brand new to me.

the '04 Les Terrasses

by Shaji M » Tue Apr 29, 2008 2:32 pm

Interestingly I had one remaining bottle of the 2004 Chateau Pesquie Les Terrasses 3 nights ago. I liked it for it's quite rustic nature. I haven't had the '05 yet, but the '04 was more than fine.

While this was an "okay" bottle of wine, I must admit I was a bit disappointed in it as I found the tanginess and tartness to be a bit more than had been expecting. Based on the grapes and the region (I drank a lot of Ventoux wines a couple of years ago when I spent some time in the south of France) I was looking forward to something fuller and richer and not as acidic.

This year in Vancouver we only got the white Persia (very good indeed) and the fabulous CdPlike Nadal 2004.

As for the Pesquie both the Terrases and Quintessence red were very nice in 04. Our LDB seems to have an endless supply of the 04 Terrases so I don't know if we will see the 05 or not.

An endless supply of '04 Terrasses is not a bad thing.
And David, welcome to the forum. Based on the company you keep, you are certain to be greatly appreciated here.
