WTN: A.J. Adam Dhroner Hofberg Kabinett 2006

by Bill Hooper » Sat Apr 26, 2008 12:19 am

Whoa baby! Sweet spring-time apple blossoms, candied lime, granny smith apple, pear and starfruit, cherry, cold bullet lead, pumice, and acidity like…imagine brushing your tongue with a steel-bristled brush. It is so pure and fresh and clean (and not a trace of reductive aromas) yet richly textured and wide-freakin’-open. Is it kabinett in the truest sense? Who cares? Diese Scheiße ist Dynamit! I’ve been a fan of Andreas Adams wines for a few years now, but it seems to me that he is no longer a superstar in the making, but finally one of Germanys elite.

Glad to hear it. I liked some of the 02 and 03 wines, so glad to hear they have only gotten better.

I had my first Adam at Ines Nyby's house once upon a time, and that name went immediately on my "BUY ANYTIME YOU FIND IT" list. Loved that intensity. Then I kinda forgot about them...thanks for the note, it's a good nudge.

Guys like Adam and Van Volxem (although with different techniques) are leading a changing of the guard in the Mosel and stirring things up in the process . I wonder how the established producers will counter -It can only be good for everyone.

I have a case of the '07 coming next month -I can't wait! For now, I have to buy up the rest of the '06 I can find...

Jenise,

He's been making more wine every year (which still doesn't amount to much.) 2007 is a pretty plentiful vintage compared to 2005 or '06, but his fame might outstrip supply. Buy up!

We should do an Adam Open Mic. Did I mention it was only $20? S-T-E-A-L!
