WTN: Marques De Caceres Barrel Fermented White 2006

by Bruce Hayes » Sun Apr 20, 2008 12:30 pm

DOCA Rioja

A blend of Viura and Malvasia.

Light lemon, spicy, good tangy acidity, slightly creamy, quite peppery, zesty. A lighter body and more delicate than I would have expected, since this was barrel fermented and overall it had more of an aggressive bitter, sharp edge than I had been prepared for.

A mouthwatering finish with tangy lemon.

An okay wine that would be better matched to hearty food, due to its edge.

Purchased at $15.95 (Canadian).
