Let us hope for a Chinese boycott of French wine.

French media are full of reports of anti-French frenzy in China and calls for boycotts of French goods, following the hot reception given to the Olympic flame in Paris and reports of a possible no-show by President Sarkozy at the Olympic inauguration. In particular, Chinese emotions are being inflamed by stories of the tribulations of a crippled Chinese "heroine" who protected the flame against "pro-Tibetan louts" in Paris.

Wouldn't it be wonderful if the Chinese were turned off buying French wine? Prices at the top level might regain some sanity.

Sadly for wine lovers, such a boycott is likely to be of short duration.

Unfortuntely, I would consider it likely that the people who get mad about such things and the people who buy top-end French wine aren't the same people. I would, however, heartily endorse your hope, and have a few suggestions for the Chinese. Like, Freedom Rice. :) It worked here....
