2005 Unsung Bordeaux Heroes

by Covert » Thu Apr 17, 2008 8:56 am

Since the Focus department has switched to Loire, I will mention here that I purchased two cases of Sherry-Lehmann's cheap 2005 Bordeaux sampler lots: 12 different bottles per case, ranging in price from $10 to $15, or something like that. Bought two cases so that I try each bottle twice: now and in maybe six months, when some might still be available. If I find that any are good to my taste right now, I will stock up. Reading on this forum that even a lowly 2005 Sociando Millet will cost me $75, I am pretty much done with anything from 2005 other than unsung heroes and a few Cru Bourgeois.

Time to also pick up a boatload of 2004 Cru Bourgeois for some relatively inexpensive "traditional" drinking.

hi covert - i tasted a bunch of less expensive bordeaux on tuesday in chicago. the big hit for me - and a really big hit it was - was ch. liversan. i would say it was cru classe quality. i notice on wine searcher that it is available in north jersey for $18-$22 depending on where. the lower price was from a place in paterson that i don't remember. anyway - thought you might be interested. this is the real deal. david
