Oh come on, don't you know we have been saved from the evils of normal yields. 2008 will be the year of hedonistic fruit in Muscadet, caused bu Mother Nature controlling yields to the appropriately hedonistic levels.

Especially tough because these winemakers are hardly raking it in hand-over-fist, even in great years.

No Super Vintage premium for Muscadet.

Well, this in combination with a withering dollar makes it look like one of the last great $12 wines shall soon be $17. How much is too much for Muscadet?

Bill, I can still buy some pretty nice Musky for under $20 Cdn. It will soon cost as much as a good entry level Chablis!!

(Hopefully it was obvious I was joking above...)

I have no problem paying $20 (or more - I in fact have for certain bottlings) for Muscadet. If the wine is great it's great. I wouldn't want to pay Lafite prices, but I wouldn't pay Lafite prices for Lafite.

Doubtful in these parts. Entry level Chablis (at least the good stuff) is headed upward, too, as a result of falling sawbuck. YMMV, of course. For my part, I'd willingly pay up to $25 for a top-level Muscadet such as L D'Or or Clos des Briords. To me, those wines are on a par with top whites from elsewhere in the Loire, or Austria or Germany.
