Niagara Peninsula.
The inaugural vintage of Sauvignon Blanc from this winery.
Light yellow with a greenish tinge in the glass.
Pine resin, peppery and spicy nose.
Zesty and fresh, gooseberry, lemon, bitter grapefruit rind, a hint of peach, pine resin, very clean. With time, the bitter grapefruit rind intesnified and became rather unpleasant.
Peppery, mouthwatering acidity and grapefruit rind bitterness on the finish.
I really wanted to like this wine. It had all the necessary components for a good Sauvignon Blanc, but I felt the pieces just didn't come together to form a cohesive whole. This wasn't a bad wine and it wasn't necessarily a bad example of Sauvignon Blanc. I just felt that, overall, the wine was rather timid, hollow and flat and lacking in that certain "something."
