06 Max Ferd Richter Brauneberger Juffer-Sonnenuhr Spatlese

Sunday night. We felt like something light and refreshing with a stirfry watching some TV before launching into next week, so we chose this wine. This has potential to be a godo wine, but didnt really fit the bill we were asking, and in hindsight we should have known better...

Quite a delicate nose of white flowers, pineapple and lemon, with some dried herbs and fennel showing over time. The palate is sweet - sugary sweet. Very rich for Spatlesen. Lime and florals and perhaps even some blackberry and licorice. The syrupy texture has me scratching my head until I check the stats for this wine - 9.5% Alcohol, 106g/l RS, 8.9g/l acid. Auslesen levels. Watching the legs in the glass they hardly move, and after swallowing a mouthful I feel like a glass of water for a rinseout. Not made for young consumption - if you have this, drink the Kabinetts for refreshment and let this lie for quite a while.

cheers

The downside of some of these 06s. In addition to being richer and sweeter than their pradikat, the heavy botrytis was annoying.
