WTN: 1997 Loosen Erdener Treppchen Riesling Auslese

by Bill Buitenhuys » Sun Mar 30, 2008 5:34 pm

So I ask Dad if he wants a drink. Usually he says “rum and coke” but today he surprised me when he said, “Ya, some wine”. Ok, Dad likes sweet NY wines from places like Lake Niagara or Widmer so I thought I go with a 1997 Dr. Loosen Erdener Treppchen Riesling Auslese (MSR) as it retains the sweetness that he likes but pumps up the volume in complexity and balance a few orders of magnitude. Lots of creamy orange, pineapple, and apple with a refined sweetness and well balanced acidity. I really enjoyed (alot) it but the best part was that Dad really liked it (and so did Mom). The bottle disappeared quickly. 7.5%abv, AP 26 98.

The '97s are drinking really well right now.
